USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) Scholarship
To honor President George Bush's commitment to public service, the Board of Directors of the George & Barbara Bush Foundation has instituted three $2,500 college scholarships for crew or family members of USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77). One scholarship is for undergraduates and two for graduate school study - one specifically to attend The George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University while the second is open to any graduate program in the United States.
The scholarships are aimed at recognizing and encouraging President George Bush's commitment to public service, which he has referred to as a noble calling. Scholarships are one time payments payable in the fall semester of the year in which the scholarship is granted.
Applications for the scholarship will be posted on the George H.W. Bush Foundation's website and on U.S. Navy outlets. The deadline for filing an application is May 1 annually. Recipients will be notified in May for a fall payment. Scholarship payments will be made directly to the school designated by the recipient.
Crew and air wing members and their family members. For purposes of the scholarships, a family member is defined as a spouse or child of a scholarship applicant. A crew or air wing member must be within 24 months of having served on CVN 77 for him/her or a family member to apply for a scholarship. Individuals serving on the Scholarship Committee (described below), members of the governing body and employees of the George & Barbara Bush Foundation, and family members of any such individuals, are not eligible to receive a scholarship.
An application and any supporting materials must be submitted to the Admin Office of CVN 77. The Admin Office will certify service on CVN 77 and forward all applications to the George H.W. Bush Foundation.
A committee of community leaders, including retired military personnel, in the Bryan/College Station area will review all applications and select the winner.
The George H.W. Bush Foundation will notify the Commanding Officer of CVN 77 regarding the awardees.

George Bush High School Public Service Scholarship
The George Bush High School Public Service Scholarship recognizes high school seniors in the Bryan-College Station school districts for their community service. The awards recognize the career of President George Bush and his dedication to public service, which he has described as a noble calling, as well as inspire future generations to engage in public service and to participate in the building of our communities, our state, and our nation as better places in which to work and live for all. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic excellence and community service and receive a $3,000 scholarship.
In addition, each recipient's school receives a grant of $2,500 for education purposes. The program is sponsored through the generous support of Bryan Texas Utilities (BTU). Students interested in the George Bush High School Public Service Scholarship should contact their high school's counseling department.
Scholarship payments will be made directly to the school designated by the recipient.

Bobby Holt Scholarship
The Bobby Holt Scholarship will be used to support the academic activities of a student at The Bush School of Government and Public Service. This scholarship is based on academic performance and the recommendation of the Dean of The Bush School.
Maria B. Popadiuk Scholarship
The Maria B. Popadiuk Scholarship will serve to encourage students in their academic studies at The Bush School of Government and Public Service and in their pursuit of careers in public service. Maria B. Popadiuk had a career in business and education. This scholarship acknowledges the dedication to education exhibited by Maria B. Popadiuk and the inspiration she provides. This scholarship recognizes her strength of character and serves as a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit. The aim of the Maria B. Popadiuk Scholarship is to inspire and guide the recipient in a similar fashion of determination and excellence in the classroom and in service to others.
Merle E. Herberger Scholarship
The Merle E. Herberger Scholarship will be used to support the academic activities of a student at The Bush School of Government and Public Service.
George H.W. Bush Foundation Community Grant Program
The George & Barbara Bush Foundation will partner with Mays Business School's Strategic Philanthropy course for 2019-2020 grant cycle by providing a unique educational opportunity. The Strategic Philanthropy course will administer all grant related items including application, review, and decision-making. George H.W. Bush Foundation Travel
The George H.W. Bush Foundation provides annual travel grants to undergraduate and graduate students from each of the academic colleges at Texas A&M University for various educational opportunities. These grants facilitate student travel connected with their research topics (attending academic conferences, research projects or study, or internships in the United States or abroad). Students should contact their academic departments for more information.

George H.W. Bush Faculty Excellence Awards
Through the vision and support of President George Bush, three faculty awards were established at Texas A&M University through the George H.W. Bush Foundation. The awards are given to faculty members in one of three categories, and each is accompanied with a $2,500 stipend.
This excellence award recognizes a faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to the international education of Texas A&M students. The recipient must have taught Texas A&M University students outside the United States and have accumulated an impressive record of effective teaching documents through various methods such as peer and student reviews.
This excellence award is given annually in recognition of faculty who make outstanding contributions to international research. This award is given to a faculty member who has conducted research outside the United States and has obtained international preeminence through his/her research.
This excellence award is given to a faculty member who has made outstanding contributions to public service. Faculty public service is defined as a sustained long-term application of a faculty member's disciplinary expertise to the public or non-profit sector in local, statewide, national or international arenas.
