Welcome back! The well-being of our visitors and staff is our top priority. We have adjusted our visitor experience to meet current health and safety guidelines. Timed entry tickets are required for admission and must be purchased in advance. In order to allow for social distancing, the capacity in the museum has been greatly reduced, and tickets are likely to sell out. We hope to be able to increase capacity very soon.

Each of us plays a role in a successful and safe reopening. Thank you for your patience and commitment to honoring our new safety protocols.

Current Hours

Monday - Saturday: 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday: 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Note: The last entry will be at 4:00 p.m. to afford our visitors enough time to experience the exhibits before the museum closes promptly at 5:00 p.m.

The Research Room remains closed until further notice.

Timed entry tickets must be purchased online in advance.

Plan Ahead

Timed entry tickets must be purchased in advance. Guests are encouraged to reserve their preferred date and time as tickets are likely to sell out. Visitor services will be limited. Restrooms are available near the rotunda, and restroom occupancy will be reduced to allow for social distancing. It is strongly recommended that guests use the restroom before they enter the museum. Drinking fountains are currently unavailable, but visitors may bring sealable bottled water. All other drinks are prohibited in the museum galleries.

Visitors agree to abide by the guidelines posted on the website and by all instructions posted in the museum or provided by staff during the visit. If a visitor or a member of their party fails to follow the museum’s guidelines and instructions, they may be denied entry or required to leave the premises.

Audio wands are not available at this time. Visitors are encouraged to download the audio tour on their personal devices.

In order to facilitate social distancing, there is a small number of rooms and exhibits that will be closed for the time being: the orientation theater, the Avenger viewing balcony, Head of State Gifts, Literacy Overlook, and Research Room. The rest of the museum and the Museum Store will be open.

Timed entry tickets are required for entry and must be purchased online in advance. You may purchase a maximum of six (6) tickets per visit.

COVID-19 Enhanced Safety Measures

While we have implemented enhanced health and safety measures, we cannot guarantee that any visitor will not contract COVID-19 during their visit. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place at this time. Museum visitors voluntarily assume all risks related to COVID-19 exposure. In the event of a reported COVID-19 exposure during their visit, the person making the reservation will be notified by the email they provided on their reservation and that person will be responsible for notifying all members of their party.

Safety Guidelines

Visitors agree to abide by these safety guidelines and all instructions posted in the museum or provided by staff during the visit. If a visitor fails to follow the guidelines and instructions, they may be denied entry or required to leave the premises.

  • If you’re sick (or not feeling well), please visit us another time
For the safety of all visitors and staff, anyone who is sick or has any sign of a respiratory illness should stay home. Please contact us at to reschedule your visit or to receive a refund.
  • Face Coverings Required for Unvaccinated Persons
Fully vaccinated visitors are not required to wear a mask or other face covering. Fully vaccinated means it has been at least two weeks since receiving the last dose of vaccine. All visitors ages 2 and older who are not fully vaccinated, must wear a face covering or mask that covers both the nose and the mouth. Visitors must provide their own face coverings.
  • Stay six feet apart
To facilitate social distancing, signs are located throughout the museum to indicate the directional flow for the museum. Practice social distancing during your visit by staying at least 6 feet from anyone not in your group. Parties of no more than 6 will be able to social distance together. Children must stay with adults at all times. Failure to follow social distancing procedures and face covering policy will result in removal from the premises.
  • Enhanced Cleaning Measures
We have enacted enhanced cleanings of the museum and all high-touch areas. Hand sanitizer is available throughout the building. Visitors will be provided with pencils to use on all touch screen interactives in the museum (the eraser can be used as a stylus).
  • Contact Tracing
We may share your name and email address with a governmental health authority should that information be requested for a COVID-19-related reason. If a visitor reports a positive diagnosis with COVID-19 after visiting on a day near your visit, we will use your contact information to notify you. If you do not want your name or email address used for these purposes, please contact us at The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum will not disclose your email address for any other purpose without your permission. To enhance the safety and well-being of our community, we ask that anyone testing positive for (or expressing symptoms of) COVID-19 within 5 days of their visit notify us at Other visitors will be notified of potential exposure, but the identity of the person testing positive will not be shared.
